Think about this: if you were the boss of a company called ‘Your Life Inc.’, how would you run it? Imagine you’ve got at least 80 years to make this company awesome. What kind of boss would you be to make sure everyone, including you and your family, loves coming to work every day and feels happy about their job?
To make your life really rock, you’ve got to be the leader who sets the tone. Having a ‘creator mindset’ means you don’t wait for cool things to happen — you make them happen. It’s about leading your life in a way that fills it up with things that make you proud and excited.
One of my friends, her name is Gio, shared a nugget of wisdom that’s like a secret power-up for becoming your own best boss. It’s an ancient Chinese saying: “不恥下問.” It means “don’t be afraid to ask questions from anyone.” It’s like saying, “Hey, everyone has something to teach me, and I’m not too proud to learn.” This thought comes from the famous book “The Analects” and shows us how being open to learning from everyone is a super-smart move.
Gio talks about this saying on her blog, and dives deep into why these words are super important. Each letter in that saying has a story that’s about being humble and always ready to learn something new. It’s all about having the attitude that you’re never too cool to ask questions.
Reflect my attitudes
I’ve noticed sometimes I try to act like I know everything already. But let’s be real — that’s like pretending your homework is done when it’s not. You’re only fooling yourself, and you won’t learn anything new that way. Instead, I’ve learned it’s okay to say, “I don’t know, but I’d love to learn!”
Adopting this leader’s mindset can really change your life. It’s about saying, “I’m in charge, but I’m also a learner.” When you lead your life this way, you’re open to new ideas, and you make your life about growing, not just showing off.
The moment I realized I don’t have to know everything, I started to grow again. I became a student in the school of life, always ready for the next lesson it throws my way.
Western Philosophy
In western , there was a also deep thinker whose name was Socrates. He also mentioned about similar concept which of not being ashamed to learn from anyone, regardless of their status. Socrates, an ancient Greek philosopher, is often associated with the idea that true knowledge involves recognizing one’s own ignorance. He famously declared that he knew nothing except the fact of his ignorance, which is captured by the phrase “I know that I know nothing.”
Socrates engaged with a wide variety of people, from politicians and poets to craftsmen and common citizens, through his dialectical method of questioning (the Socratic Method), to explore philosophical truths. He believed that this process of continuous questioning and dialogue with anyone, regardless of their social standing or expertise, was crucial to gaining deeper understanding and wisdom.
